NTPU Signs MOU with Fulbright Taiwan

On September 28, 2021, representatives from National Taiwan University (NTPU) and Consortium for Study Abroad in Taiwan(CSAT) signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) at a signing ceremony, which was held at the Brainstorming Corner in NTPU’s library. This agreement was signed by Dr. Chen-Jai Lee, President of NTPU, and Dr. Randall Nadeau, the Executive Director of the Foundation for Scholarly Exchange (Fulbright Taiwan). The event, which coincided with the annual Teacher’s day in Taiwan, making this event even more significant.

The ceremony was delivered and witnessed in the presence of Fulbright Taiwan Director Dr. Randall L. Nadeau, Executive Director, Mr. Astin Chang, and Ms. Dalia Chang. National Taipei University representatives comprised President of NTPU, Dr. Chen-Jai Lee, Dr. Wen-I Lin, Dr. Tai-Hsi Wu, Dr. Yue-Shan Chang, Dr. Peter Y.H. Chen, Dr. Shu-Ling Chen, Dr. Shun-Te Yuo, Dr. Chia-An Ku, Dr. Kuo-Hsun Ma, Dr. Lucy Ting, and four Fulbright Campus Advisors, Dr. Daw-Tung Lin, Dr. Rae Lan, Dr. Wen-Chun Chang, and Dr. Wen-Yeh Huang.

President Lee expressed his appreciation to Fulbright Taiwan for their dedicated efforts in strengthening the bilateral academic and educational exchanges between Taiwan and the United States for the past 65 years. Through the program, NTPU students will have more opportunities to communicate with American students and mingle with people from different social and educational backgrounds.

Director Dr. Randall L. Nadeau explained that the collaboration between CSAT program and National Taipei University will bring the United States and Taiwan closer together. Through educational and cultural exchange, people from two countries can build a foundation of warm friendship and communication which will last for many years. Dr. Nadeau also mentioned that the rooting of the trees symbolized the deepening friendship between NTPU and Fulbright Taiwan.

After the signing ceremony, both representatives stroll down to Mind Lake Hall to attend the NTPU-Fulbright Tree Planting Initiative Ceremony. The tree planted on the square in front of the Mind Lake Hall is Zelkova. Symbolizing wisdom, it is the 22nd tree that Fulbright planted in Taiwan. The Mind Lake Hall is a newly established facility and would soon be open in October 2021.
