The University of Reading Law School's Visit for Expanding Exchange and Collaboration

Professor James Devenney, the head of the Law School at the University of Reading in the UK, along with Lecturer Dr. Wangwei Lin visited NTPU Law School on October 24, 2023. Professor Yueh-Hung Hou (Dean of our law school), Professor Ta-Wei Kuo (Vice Dean and Department Chair), together with Professor Hsiao-Wei Kuan (Vice Dean) received the guests from the UK.

University of Reading founded in 1892, as an extension College of the University of Oxford, is now a well-known research university. It is home to 23,000 students, containing more than 4,500 international students from over 160 countries. The Reading School of Law specializes in International Law, Commercial Law, and with a strong focus on Criminology and Criminal Justice.

Since 2012, our law school signed a master’s dual-degree program with School of Law, University of Reading. With a view to expanding bilateral exchanges between students and faculty, the two law schools discussed not only further based on the original agreement, but also interchanged the possibilities of other diversified cooperation, such as Joint Ph.D. Degree, collaborative research in various legal fields, and online academic lecture activities, and so forth.

Alongside these discussions, our department also arranged for the delegation to tour various facilities, including the Center for Comparative Law Documentation, the Moot Court Room, Main Library, and the NTPU Archives. Professor James Devenney sang Moot Court’s praises and left with a profound impression. Through this visit, we aim to keep enhancing our interactive partnership and actively seek opportunities for broader collaboration in the future.
